This is actually a very important matter for you; my best advise would be to contact a good attorney and get the advise. You do not want to put your GC in jeopardy based on opinion from other people who may have incomplete information.

Our appointment was at 9:00 Am but due to NJ traffic we reached at 10:00 AM. We both were worried that we may be turned back but it turnout that they had given 9:00 AM appointment to everyone.
As soon as you will go on the second floor you will be handed over a cardboard with an application to be filled by you. Fill that application and wait in a line to be called by a clerk for checking your ID and hands. The person will closely check your hand, most probably to make sure that they are good for FP.
Once she is satisfied, you will be given a number and asked to be seated in a big hall. Your number will be called and the person will take FP for every fingers in your hand. You will also be photographed.
The whole process took us an hour.
Just one more thing, plenty of parking is available in front of the prudential building.

Yes, you have to submit your papers at least 5 business days I think before your interview date. It is a requirement for the Mumbai consulate. Mumbai consulate is like my second home :(.

Does this mean that I first need to pass the documents to the application centre and only then after 3 days can I go to the embassy?
Can't I just get the date and go to the embassy direct?

For some reason mine went the other way ,from Texas to Nebraska. It should have been in process at Texas but now Nebraska has retrogressed me about 5 months to March 10 2007 with my I-140 reeipt date of Aug. 16 2007. Can I complain about this? If so where?

My 6th year h1b is expiring on April 30, 2008. I applied labor through PERM on October 1, 2007. How to stay legal in this country until approval of 140. Converting to F1 or B2 will cause any problems to green card process. Please advice.

Take a five month vacation between now and Apr 30, 2008 and go back to you home country for five months.. Then get you H1 extended for Five month after Apr 30, 2008 till Oct1, 2007. Then apply for extension on Oct 1, 2007. I think this might work. Check with your Attorney.

It not a computer glitch for sure. As the explanation goes like this:

Even My I-140 status changed from approved to Initial Review when I received my I-485 RFE last few months ago. Though I used AC21 to change my old employer to new employer I-140 still shows initial review.

Fortunately, MA is still unaffected by the xenophobic policies regarding Driver's Licenses that are prevalent in other states. You can renew your license online, and the length or the nature of the validity of your immigration status has no influence on the type or duration of the driver's license. How long this will stay like this in MA is anybody's guess. I am sure they will also become restrictive when pressure is brought on by REAL ID regulations.

Thanks for everybody's reply. I am still confused. Here is more info about my case.
I plan to transfer PD from EB3 to EB2.
My EB3 RIR was approved. The job description required BS and nothing else. I-140 hasn't been filed yet.
MY EB2 PERM was filed and pending. The job description required Master and nothing else.
I obtained the Master degree even before filing EB3.
Now, I plan to file the 1st I-140 based on my old LC. My attorney said it would be approved without any problem.
Then, I plan to file the 2nd I-140 based on new LC and request PD carryover. My attorney said that I would have problem at this time. Since both LCs belong to the same company and both have the same job title - Software Engineer. And, they have different job requirement.
Any more comments?

I know someone who went to Canada for the weekend and got the I-94 with the correct date on it.
Note that the airline (AA), on his way out of the US, was not willing to take his I-94 since he was going for less than 30 days. So he had to explain to them about his situation and they took it.
Also note that if you have an Indian passport, you will need a visa to go to Canada.
The other option to extend your I-94 is for your employer to refile I-129, and request for extension of stay. This can be done using premium processing.

I have the exact same scenario :(
i don't think anyone would be able to use first EAD filed during July/Aug time frame as I-140 itself will take more than 1 yr.. or longer who knows...money wasted on EAD.
