Let me enlighten you folks here who are talking about double standards.
First of all this has got nothing to do with with your immigration issue. Next, the Iranian President has said that Israel should not exist and even denied the holocaust. With their nuclear program underway and talks going on, it was being thought that a more moderate leader will come to helm. Apparently it is now being believed that the elections were rigged. With a moderate leader, it is quite possible that talks may begin and an imminent Israel-Iran war be averted. How can 11 million votes be rigged? If they are counted fast in a few hours, yes they can be rigged.
Every country has issues that their population follows. Its no different than any issue that is followed in Indian media. When one issue dies down, another is brought in forefront. Why are you even surprised?
Well, If Mahmoud Ahmedinejad is referring to genocide then he needs to be condemned and if people have chosen him then there needs to be international pressure on iran to change its policies. However, this election is about choice by Iranian people and their genuine will should be respected. Everyone knows that west hates current dispensation in Iran but best thing to do is not to poke nose in other's affairs. This is something west does often and world despises.
The truth will ultimately come out. But is best left to Iranian people. The moment west sniffs an opening they are all for regime change where they dont like regime. They havent leanrt to live with and respect choices of people where it does not match their agenda.
Past elections have been rigged in India , US , everywhere, so there is nothing new in this. Those who have the power will want to retain it.

Friends, I Received the magic email today!
Yes - I cant believe my eyes, my I-485 has been approved today and card production ordered.
I do have a question: I could not file for my wife's i-485 in July/2007. So, we filed for my wife's application on Aug/01/2008 (Did a overnight express mail on July-31st) as my PD is current as of Aug-1st. So far her application check has not been deposited.
What will happen now? Is she out of status? I am getting really concerned. Gurus help me out?

The two categories EB4 and EB5 are disappearing. Both together are around 14% which are 21,000 (7%+7% of 140,000) visa numbers. EB2 will come to 2007 JAN atleast when this 21,000 and last quarter visa numbers EB4 + EB5 ---> EB1 ----> EB2 spillover happens. I think that IV should contact USCIS because these numbers would disappear before march and would not get rolled over to EB3 and EB2.

I am planning to shift employers and I have a question:
Company A applied for my green card and I have an approved I-140, passed the 6 month mark and now planning to shift jobs on EAD. I have an offer from Company B with a condition that my offer would be permanent upon approval of my green card. I cannot work for company B till I physically have my GC. In the mean time can I work for Company C ( in a completely different field) till my GC gets approved without any issues?

Kirupa, thanks but when I started a new empty xaml file to test your code I got quite a few errors. I'm using the June 2.5 Preview so I don't know if that's the cause of the errors but I've attached a screenshot with the code and errors.

I have one more question regarding plane tickets. My parents bought ticket that has OPEN RETURN DATE, but the maximum validity of the ticket is SIX months.
They do not know the exact date when they are going to return and they also do not know how long the stay permit will be given to them (even though I have heard that normally 6-month stay is given). Now some people are saying that the Officer at Port of Entry does not like when there is no specific date of return.
Do you guys think my parents need to change the ticket or they need to have the return date mentioned on the ticket (the date that we do not know yet)? They are flying in less than 2 days. Thanks.

You can go to Mexico (Methamoras OR Tijuana) to get visa stamp, then go to india. It's very quick and easy to get an appointment. i did it on last october and then went to india within month and came back in Jan 2008.
DID THE SAME THING! WENT TO TIJUANA, MEXICO FOR STAMPING. T'WAS PRETTY QUICK AND EASY. MAKE SURE ALL DOCUMENTS ARE LEGAL THOUGH... ANYBODY GOING TO TIJUANA? MAKE SURE TO VISIT PLAZA DE LOS HEROS..CHEAP CORONA BEER THERE, JUST A BUCK A PIECE, WHICH I INDULGE AFTER GETTING MY VISA STAMPED... :D

as I understand the process, I fyou apply and get the green card approval before marriage, you cannot bring your wife over here as it will become family based immigration.
The ideal thing is to do it while still on h1 and then do the 485 application.
Since you are from rest of the world ? the rules and dates will be different for you. not sure how though ? sorry !
I look to more senior members here for better direction than the advice that I have regurgitated for you.

Hi everyone,
I have a related question. I am a canadian citizen now and am still maintaining an H1b. My H1b stamp had expired in 2007 though.
I had applied for AP in january but its still pending at NSC.
Now I have to go to India for my brother's marriage.
My question to you all is-Since I am still on H1B (and If am not wrong, canadian citizens do not require H1B stamps)-- will it be ok if I travel without an AP.
